May 2010: the 43st Garden Days of Beervelde

7th, 8th and 9th of May 2010 from 10 am till 6 pm.

What are the Garden Days?
This event takes place twice a year, each second weekend of May and October . During these weekends, more than 200 nurserymen, designers and artisans exhibit, for the public's pleasure and enlightenment, probably the most spectacular variety of plants and garden-related ware one could hope to see in Belgium. Worthwhile to be mentioned: the prices of the plants are definitely lower in Belgium than in England or France.

Established as the country's most outstanding garden festival, Beervelde attracts thousands of visitors from all parts of Belgium and abroad. The show's success is due to the high standard of the displays and the quality of the exhibitors' stands, but above all to the very special atmosphere that prevails in Beervelde.

In fact, Beervelde pioneered in Belgium a fresh way to discover plants: in the open air and in an exquisite setting - quiet, congenial and elegant. Since the very first show, Beervelde has gained and retained the reputation of "Belgium's must for all garden lovers".

Fragaria, Princess of the kitchen garden
This year fairytale princesses will brighten up the marvelous Garden Days of Beervelde.

The idea originated from a tradition in Beervelde village. Every year, a new strawberry princess is chosen. Briefly after her crowning, the Royal Palace in Brussels welcomes her.

Fragaria, the strawberry, becomes the princess of the next Garden Days.

The visitors will not only have the chance to learn everything about this tasty red fruit, there will also discover how the chosen theme inspired the exhibitors in the decoration of their stands.

On Sunday morning, the ninth of May, the strawberry princess 2010 will arrive in a fairy-like carriage. She'll take her time to congratulate the exhibitors who's stands where best inspired by the theme of this edition.
